It operates as a laboratory rather than a representational tool: a theatrical experimental environment where the performer’s body is continuously translated and destabilized through live avatarization, enabling the observation of how presence, agency, and authorship shift under real-time digital mediation and iterative dramaturgical recalibration.

The Avatar Trap

MoCap theatre show

2025

The Avatar Trap is a contemporary play that places three teenagers (Miruna, Lică, Costi) in a virtual universe, where each interacts with their own avatar (Lion Cub, Wolf, Gorilla). They are trapped in a digital world, forced to discover which one of them is the "bully" who caused suffering online. For three hours, they must collaborate and confront their own mistakes, under the threat of being stuck forever in the "avatar trap." The play explores themes such as digital identity, cyberbullying, social pressure, and collective responsibility. The production is defined by a structural integration of motion capture (MoCap) technologies and elements of generative artificial intelligence, used not as simple technical extensions, but as active dramaturgical tools that reconfigure stage relationships, the characters' capacity for action, and the mechanisms of meaning production.
